Employment Screening Services is pleased to announce that Todd Higey has joined the company as General Counsel.

Higey will bring his expertise in labor and employment law, litigating unfair competition cases, and advising employers on best practices.

“We’re excited to have Todd Higey join our team as General Counsel at ESS. His experience will help provide strong legal expertise and counsel to the group,” says Jason Kimbrell, Executive Vice President at ESS. “We’ll look to Todd to provide us with compliance procedures as well as legal updates and initiatives. We know that Todd is the best fit for our group because of his positive outcomes and vast understanding of the legal industry relating to human resources and risk management.”

Higey obtained a Juris Doctorate from Duquesne University in 1998. While at Duquesne, he served as a member of the Law Review and published a work on constitutional hermeneutics.

A graduate of Leadership Shelby County, Class of 2011, Higey has also been a member of the Society for Human Resource Management and a board member of one of its local chapters, the Birmingham Society for Human Resource Management.  Since August of 2012, he has served as the co-chair of the Legal & Legislative Affairs Committee of BSHRM, leading three trips to Washington D.C. to meet with the Alabama delegation to lobby on behalf of Alabama employers.  In April 2013 and April 2014, Todd organized and conducted an employment law Legal Update Seminar for the members of BSHRM.
