The Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) is the largest third-party certifier of businesses owned, controlled, and operated by women in the United States. WBENC, a national 501(c)(3) non-profit, partners with 14 Regional Partner Organizations to provide its world class standard of certification to women-owned businesses throughout the country. Outside of the United States, certification is provided by an alliance partner, WEConnect International.
WBENC is thriving because of the strong commitment of Corporate and Government Members, Women’s Business Enterprises (WBEs), Regional Partner Organizations (RPOs), Alliance relationships, and the leadership provided by the WBENC staff.
WBENC’s core competencies include certification, opportunities, resources and engagement.
WBENC Certification validates that the business is 51% owned, controlled, operated, and managed by a woman or women. To achieve certification, women owned businesses complete a formal documentation and site visit process which is administered by one of the council’s 14 Regional Partner Organizations. Certification gives women owned businesses the ability to compete for real-time business opportunities provided by WBENC Corporate Members and government agencies. Opportunities deliver the programming and networking needs of the constituents. Resources are provided through a network to address the challenges women face in building and growing a business, providing support throughout the full lifecycle of their business. And the engagement of the constituents is key to success throughout the WBENC network. Involvement strengthens existing relationships and fosters new ones.
We are very proud to be a part of this great organization under our President, CEO, and owner Sheila Benson.
