On August 11, 2014, Governor Chris Christie signed New Jersey’s ban-the-box Act into law, stating that “everyone deserves a second chance in New Jersey.”
New Jersey becomes the sixth state to impose ban-the-box style restrictions on private employers, following the lead of Hawaii, Illinois, Massachusetts, Minnesota, and Rhode Island. New Jersey’s Act is composed of ten sections.
