Experienced Houston businesses were offered an opportunity to participate in the process to bid for contracts with the NFL’s Super Bowl LI contractors and special event producers, and the Houston Super Bowl Host Committee. As a part of The Houston Super Bowl Host Committee’s commitment to offering economic opportunities to local businesses, the Business Connect Resource Guide was implemented. ESS was honored to be a participant in the process, connect with local organizations and earn a direct opportunity for involvement in the week-long event.
The Business Connect Resource Guide is the NFL’s supplier diversity program designed to connect diverse, local businesses to contracting opportunities related to the Super Bowl. The program’s goal is to increase opportunities for qualified, experienced and certified local enterprises to conduct Super Bowl business, as well as to support individual business growth through networking events, educational and capacity-building programs.
ESS’s very own Laura Washington, Houston Account Executive, lead the efforts to secure our involvement with the Business Connect Resource Guide initiatives. The competitive program kicked off in late February 2016 and participation was limited to businesses operating in the Houston area that were certified in one or more of the following areas throughout the year:
- Minority-Owned Enterprise (MBE)
- Woman-Owned Enterprise (WBE)
- Disabled Veteran-Owned Enterprise (DVBE)
- Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, or Transgender-Owned Enterprise (LGBTE)
ESS is proud to be among the 350 Houston Area businesses selected for the Super Bowl LI Houston Business Connect Resource Guide. The inclusion as a preferred vendor for the BCRG created an opportunity for ESS to partner with event management in an effort to mitigate risk by delivering comprehensive background screening solutions for the highly anticipated event.
