Dallas HR, an affiliate chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), has invited Todd Higey, General Counsel for Employment Screening Services (ESS), to be a speaker at the 2019 HR Southwest Conference. The invitation marks the third consecutive year Higey has been selected as a session speaker for the Conference, which has been designated as the official State of Texas SHRM Conference.
In the October 29 session entitled, “It Smells Like Weed in Here!”, Higey will discuss how the continued legalization of marijuana impacts the legal and technical aspects of a marijuana drug testing program for employers. Additionally, he will participate in the Legal Exchange round table on October 30.
Higey also chairs the PACER Task Force for the Professional Background Screeners Association (PBSA, formerly NAPBS) and was recently elected to the PBSA Board of Directors. He previously served as co-chair of the Legal and Legislative Affairs Committee Birmingham SHRM chapter. Prior to joining ESS, Higey was in private practice, concentrating in labor and employment law.
The 2019 HR Southwest Conference will be held Oct. 27-30 at the Fort Worth Convention Center in Fort Worth, TX. For more information or to register to attend, visit hrsouthwest.com.
